Our Photography Tour of Edinburgh is lead by world renowned photographer, James Christie. A native of Edinburgh but spent 12 years in London and 15 years in Los Angeles before returning to Edinburgh in 2004. The tour is a walking tour of Edinburgh’s Historic Old Town and normally lasts 4-5 hours in total.
James will teach you how to shoot in manual mode, for the very best photographic results, and (even if your camera doesn’t have manual mode) give you some professional instruction on composition. An historical account will be given at each location visited.
For a quick overview please watch our short video
You will photograph The National Monument of Scotland, The Nelson Monument, The Robert Burns Memorial, Queen Mary’s Bath House, The Scottish Parliament Building, Many historic sites on the famed Royal Mile and of course, the iconic Edinburgh Castle.

Our tours are aimed at all levels of photographer from absolute beginner to very experienced amateur. James does not use confusing jargon or technical terms, preferring to explain things in a simple to understand manner. James is professional, friendly, patient, polite and encouraging.
The tours run Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, subject to availability, and start at 10am. Edinburgh does have hills and steps, therefore we recommend wearing comfortable footwear. The cost of the tour is £65 per participant, whether they take photographs or not, however, a camera can be provided at no extra cost. A Private tour (which lasts longer) can be booked for £500 for a maximum of 10 people (Please email James for further details).
