The Fairy Glen, Isle of Skye, Scotland, Custom, Private Photography Tour

The Fairy Glen, Isle of Skye, Scotland

I had a fabulous time last week, doing a private, custom, photography tour of the Isle of Skye. This was shot in The Fairy Glen, near Uig on the Isle of Skye. This feature is sometimes referred to as “Castle Ewan”, but it never was a castle.

I pride myself on being unique and my ability to customise photography tours of Scotland, to give my clients an experience of a lifetime. I am not a large corporation and every client is vitally important to me. James Christie is a professional photographer with forty years experience in his industry. I truly offer tours that nobody else can. I will always be on hand to ensure that you will go home with amazing photographs of your visit to Scotland. Please feel free to email James at to discuss your private and custom photography tour of Scotland.

Skelbo Castle

This ruined 14th century castle keep is Skelbo Castle and is located on the high shore of Loch Fleet in the Scottish Highlands.

Robert the Bruce captured an earlier castle at the site belonging to the Sutherlands in 1308. In 1529 the castle was bought by William Sutherland of Duffus. The whole site was abandoned as a residence in the 20th century. We visited this location on a recent private photography tour of Scotland.

Outlander Photography Tour, inspired by Diana Gabaldon, she evidently likes the idea!

The most comprehensive Outlander tour available in Scotland. This tour is the experience of a lifetime for any fan!

You don’t need to be a photographer as you will be guided by a Pro!

Buachaille Etive Mòr, Glencoe, Scottish Highlands at dawn.
We have been busy. This was shot at sunrise on one of our Scottish Photography Experience, custom private tours.

I used an ND 100 filter and a 30 second exposure for this photograph and I am very happy with the result.

Rosslyn Chapel, Knights Templar, Freemasonry, Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown, Tom Hanks, Grand Lodge, Dolomon's Temple, Holy Grail

The magnificent and mysterious Rosslyn Chapel. We visit this incredible site on our “4 Abbeys + A Chapel Photography Tour”. Construction on the Chapel began in 1456 by William Sinclair, the first Earl of Caithness. His original plan was for a cathedral sized structure, but he died and it was never completed.

Edinburgh Photography Tour, Review, 5 star review, Best Photography Tour, Edinburgh, Scotland

Thank you so much to Julie for this fabulous review of Edinburgh Photography Tours. Julie did her tour yesterday (December 4, 2018)

Jedburgh Abbey, Scottish Borders, Fish eye, Arches, History, Religion

This is Jedburgh Abbey. Shot on one of our “4 Abbeys + A Chapel Photography Tour”. This tour is available to book on Thursdays, but if you give advance notice, we will try our very best to accommodate you on other days of the week. This photograph was shot using a fish eye lens and James is very happy to let you use the lens to capture images as striking as this one.

Queen Mary's Bath House, Edinburgh Photo Walk, Mary Queen of Scots, Moss on slate

This is Queen Mary’s Bath House (in Edinburgh), and has been dated by archaeologists to the year 1565. Despite the name, there is there is no evidence to support the notion that it was ever used as a “Bath House”. The idea of Mary, Queen of Scots, bathing surfaces as early as 1776 in John Pinkertons’s ‘Elegy on Craigmiller Castle:
“That chamber where the queen, whose charms divine
Made wond’ring nations own the power of love,
Oft bathed her snowy limbs in sparkling wine,
Now proves a lonely refuge for the dove.”

We always photograph this quirky little, two storey, building on our Edinburgh Photography Tour. Indeed, there are some suggestions that this structure may be the oldest surviving pavilion in the world. Such are the mysteries of Scottish History!
